Atiku met Babangida, Abubakar in Niger

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday met the former military ruling duo, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar at their rural home in Niger State.

Although the issues discussed in the meeting were not made public, Atiku’s visit to the former Nigerian leader was to prepare the ground for his involvement in the 2027 presidential election.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 elections in May stated that he would continue to run for the country’s highest political office if his health permitted.

He confirmed the encounter in a post on his X handle.

β€œToday, I paid Sallah tribute to former Heads of State General Ibrahim Babangida (retd) and General Abdusalami at their residence in Minna, Niger State,” the former Vice President wrote.
