NAL clarifies individual views expressed at virtual roundtable on national anthem

The Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) has responded to a recent press report that the views expressed by individual speakers at the June 27 virtual roundtable on the Nigerian national anthem represented the official position of the Academy.

In a statement, NAL Secretary, Professor Olakunbi Olasope, clarified that the views shared during the roundtable were solely those of the individual participants and did not reflect the official position of the Academy.

NAL has not issued any official statement or press release expressing the views mentioned in the report.

The Nigerian Academy of Letters is committed to promoting intellectual debate and diverse opinions.

“While the Academy encourages open dialogue and the exchange of ideas, it is essential to note that personal perspectives shared in its forums do not constitute the official position of the Academy.

“The Academy follows a well-defined process and specific channels to issue official positions on national issues, which were not used in this case,” he said.
