Nigerian wrestling coach aims for Olympic medals

Nigerian wrestling coach Purity Akuh is confident in his team’s ability to win medals as they step up preparations for the Paris Olympics.

Speaking after a farewell event organised in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Akuh outlined the team’s plan to participate in a pre-Olympic tournament in Madrid before heading to their training camp in Germany.

“We are currently in a camp in Barresa,” Akuh revealed. “The Federation has taken the preparation very seriously.”

“We have been on a number of campaigns to get our athletes fit,” Akuh said. “We had the presentation of our Olympic athletes. The team is also scheduled to attend the Spanish Grand Prix as part of our preparation.”

He added: “From there, we will go to Germany for the training tour to finally prepare our athletes for Paris and the 2024 Olympic Games.”
