Despite the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and other challenges witnessed in the Nigerian football space, a Swedish European football expert is very optimistic that the country will return to greatness again, reports www.totorinews.com.

Hakim Abu-Rejeili firmly believes that Nigeria will never lack football talent, but what is currently happening is a generational shift that will lead to the rebirth of made-in-Nigeria football greatness in two, three or four years’ time.

“Out of every 100 players in Nigeria, you will definitely find talented players,” Abu-Rejeili, who is among the European scouts at the scouting tournament organized by 5D Global Football Management in collaboration with Abuja-based agency CSC, exclusively told www.totorinews.com.

He added: “We are yet to see players of the class of Ronaldos and Messis, but we have seen great potential from these players, they are rough diamonds that need to be refined. You have to polish these rough diamonds a bit, some need more polishing than others.

“Nigeria has been under the talent map over the years. I think there is a change happening now with this current generation.

“You may not find so many talented footballers at the moment but in the next two, three or four years Nigeria will be a force to be reckoned with again.

“When that change comes, that is when Nigeria will return to its powerful self and produce great players again.

He said the revolution in the digital space will be a positive reference for Nigerian football in terms of talents that will be seen in the coming years.

“You have to remember that the generation that is here now was not born with the generation that will come. The generation that will come will be born with the phone in their hand, they will see everything in the digital space.

“This coming generation wants to imitate, they want to do the same or even more and in the next two, three or four years, Nigeria will have a selection of top-class young footballers graduating from the Super Eagles,” he concluded.
