Access Holdings Plc has completed the sale of 7.44% of its 93.40% stake in its Ghanaian subsidiary.
This was revealed in a recent filing to the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) signed by the Company Secretary, Helen De Cardi Nelson, Access Bank (Ghana) PLC, and obtained at the weekend.
Company disclosures state that the transaction results reflect continued investor interest in Access Bank (Ghana) Plc and confidence in the Bank’s long-term prospects.
According to the release, the sale attracted strong participation from a diversified group of investors, including pension funds, institutional investors and high net worth individuals.
The bank, which is listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange, revealed that its parent, Access Bank Plc, sold 12,085,318 ordinary shares representing 7.44% of the unit’s issued shares on July 15, 2026.
The sale was conducted through the Ghana Stock Exchange with regulatory approval, including no objection from the Bank of Ghana.
IC Securities (Ghana) Ltd acted as advisor and managing broker.
Commenting on the deal, Managing Director of Access Bank (Ghana), Ms. Pearl Nkrumah, said the transaction deepens local ownership and liquidity in the bank’s shares, and keeps management focused on converting its scale into value for stakeholders.
Prior to the sale, Access Bank Plc held 93.40% of Access Bank Ghana, with the remaining 6.60% already in the hands of other shareholders of the GSE-listed unit.
Access Holdings therefore maintains majority control of its Ghana unit; this is a partial dilution, not a way out.
The move is believed to comply with new Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations
limiting bank investment abroad to 10% of total shareholder funds.
There is speculation that UBA and GTCO will also do the same to reduce their overseas investments.
