Actor Akin Olaiya’s estranged wife claims he married her best friend

Nollywood actor Akin Olaiya’s ex-wife, Nafisat, has said she left their marriage after finding out that the actor married her best friend, who was his chief bridesmaid during their wedding.

Nafisat made this accusation in a video posted on social media responding to Olaiya’s recent public statement on the collapse of their marriage.

The actor, in a statement released on June 22, 2026, had confirmed that the couple had separated, saying that Nafisat had voluntarily left their matrimonial home and that repeated attempts to reconcile with her had been unsuccessful.

Olaiya further maintained that there was no crisis that led to his departure.

However, countering the claim, Nafisat said she suffered abuse during the marriage before finally deciding to leave after Olaiya allegedly got involved and later married her close friend.

She said: “Can you imagine that after the abuse, the pain and everything, the said husband ends up marrying your best friend?

“So, what does that mean? It’s because I’m not the type to tell my own side of the story. In my culture, we weren’t raised that way.”

Nafisat had previously accused the actor of domestic abuse, although Olaiya has yet to publicly respond to the latest allegations regarding the alleged affair with her friend.

The couple married in July 2025, following the failure of Olaiya’s first marriage.

Speculation about problems in their union emerged less than five months into the wedding before both parties eventually confirmed they had gone their separate ways.

At the time of filing this report, the allegations made by Nafisat had not been independently verified, while Olaiya had not issued any new response to his latest claims.
