Coal City Blazers top Lagos Raptors 64-61 to start NPBL phase two on a winning note

The Coal City Blazers have started their second season of the Nigeria Premier Basketball League (NPBL) on a winning note after securing a hard-fought 64-61 victory over the Lagos Raptors.

The Enugu team showed resilience, determination and composure in a hotly contested match, overcoming a strong challenge from their Lagos opponents to claim a valuable three-point victory.

Both teams battled ferociously from the tap-off, making for an intense contest, but the Coal City Blazers remained calm under pressure in the closing moments to seal the victory.

The result marks a positive start for the Blazers as they continue to establish their presence in the NPBL following their impressive entry into the league.

The Coal City Blazers will now turn their attention to their next Phase Two match against the Rivers Hoopers as they aim to build on the momentum of their opening win.

Team captain Udeh Callistus Ebuka has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to make a strong impact in the Nigeria Premier Basketball League (NPBL), saying the team has the quality and determination to compete among the best teams.

Ebuka described hosting the NPBL in the South East for the first time as a significant milestone in the development of basketball in the region.

He also commended the efforts of the South East representative on the board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Chief Ugo Udezue, for his dedication and commitment towards the growth and development of basketball in the zone.
