Damagum blamed the Oyinlola Committee for Wike Retention in PDP

Acting Chairman of the National Democratic Party (PDP), Iliya Damagun, has blamed the National Reconciliation Committee led by former Governor of State Osun, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, for a sustainable residence from the Federal Capital Minister (FCT), Nyesom Wike and others in the party.

He spoke in the BBC feature program Hausa Gane where only on Saturday.

Damagum said the committee had to be blamed for not taking firm action on more than 40 petitions that were forwarded to the crisis that shook the party.

He said: “The committee is handed over more than forty petitions who need attention but only choose to act based on the National Secretary. If the committee has acted on the petitions, maybe we will not be here today.”

He stressed that there was enough reason for the party to expel Wike and others from the party but those who were in a position to do it at that time refused to act for the most known reasons for them.

Damagum added: “Before I knew him, many of those people knew him and had a relationship with him, they enjoyed the mercy of his heart.

“This same man never hid his intention even before the 2023 general election. We suggest that the five of them must be expelled from the party but nothing was done until the election came and went. They managed to regulate the party again with the things they did.”

“Now that I lead the party, they pressed me to expel him, I myself was that I wanted peace in the party, when you continue to issue members rather than a peaceful problem resolution, one day you will wake up and no more people in the party.”
