The president of the group of Dangote Industries Limited (Dil), Aliko Dangote, announced the donation of a billion n15 billion at the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil (Adustech), Kano State.
Mr. Dangote, who is also the president of Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF), has been renewed the university chancellor.
In his speech to the 5th convocation ceremony, he said that the University must be repositioned to guide the cutting -edge research and highly qualified labor production breed that meets the requirements of market demands, industries and resolutions of real problems in the Nigerian company.
He said: “It is in this sense that I want to exploit this opportunity to announce the launch of the 5 -year development plan that I imagine for this institution.
“In the next 5 years, we will engage the sum of n15 billion in the following projects: the design and construction of further students for students; the design and construction of a world-class engineering laboratory; the design and construction of a world-class multipurpose computer laboratory opened to all students of the institution that will also be equipped with internet access 24 hours a day for academic access and the installation of a mini-just for the support of access to access field. ”
He added that: “We also commit ourselves to designing and building an affordable building of the Senate that will host the administration of this institution. Finally, we will also reserve the post-Nysc working slots for engineering graduates and other related courses that are part of our areas of interest for oil refinery and danger plants.”
Dangote said that the funding for this institution places a significant burden for the government, which is why, through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, it was able to compensate for the electricity bill of the university to relieve the tension of their finances.
“In addition, to support the university’s infrastructure thrust, we built two blocks of male and female hostels with 500 beds each.
“We have also ensured the availability of electricity in a specialized university such as ours for teaching, learning and research continues, through the university connection with a 33kva line and provided an MVA transformer from 2.5 and six (6) gradual transformers. This, I think, has done a lot to solve the energy needs of the university.”
Dangote then congratulates the vision of those who dreamed of the institution 25 years ago.
“An institution that began with an 88 -year -old student population, today has a population of over 21,877 students and this combined call has a total of about 18,000 graduates. This is really a milestone,” he added.
In his speech, the governor Abbar Kabiru Yusuf of the State of Kano praised Mr. Dangote for having contributed financially and morally to the development of the University, adding that “we will all continue to remember you as an illustrious visionary and African industrialist”.
The vice chancellor of the University, prof. Musa Tukur Yakasa, said 18,000 students were celebrated during the convocation ceremony, having graduated from university in the last ten years to date.

The VC said that the university recorded giant steps on its academic journey towards greater heights, including the accreditation of the program and a mathematical digital model designed by a university product, Mahmoud Mubarak, to measure the deforestation density.
