Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has strongly condemned what he said was the senseless and unprovoked killing of a defenseless youth, Oghenemine Ogidi by a police officer, ASP Nuhu Usman, in Effurun Warri area of the state.
Oborevwori in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, described the act as barbaric, unlawful and a gross violation of the sanctity of human life.
The Governor expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and expressed his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
He noted that no citizen deserves to be subjected to such brutality and death, and stressed that protecting life remains paramount under his administration.
Governor Oborevwori commended the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force for the swift and decisive disciplinary action taken, including the approval for the dismissal and prosecution of officers found guilty.

He described the move as a strong signal of accountability and a step towards restoring public confidence in the system.
The governor emphasized that all officers involved in this heinous act, as captured in the widely circulated video, must be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
He emphasized that justice must not only be served, but must be seen to be done.
While assuring the bereaved families of the full support of the State Government in resolving the matter, Governor Oborevwori reiterated that Delta State will follow up on the case to its logical conclusion.
He promised that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring justice is served and such tragic incidents are prevented in the future.
He called on citizens to remain calm and law-abiding, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the protection of life, the rule of law, and the promotion of a just and humane society.
