Bruno Fernandes has been crowned Male Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association after an outstanding season with Manchester United.
The Portuguese midfielder has been rewarded for his consistency, leadership and creative influence throughout the season, despite Manchester United’s mixed results.
He has eight goals and 20 assists in 34 appearances in all competitions, playing an important role in the team’s improved performances under interim manager Michael Carrick.
Fernandes becomes the first Manchester United player to win the award since Wayne Rooney in 2010, marking a significant individual achievement.
The 29-year-old, who joined United from Sporting CP in 2020, has now made over 300 appearances for the club and remains a key figure at Old Trafford.
Despite rumors of a possible move to Al Hilal, Fernandes has remained at United and continues to lead the team.
His contract runs until 2027, with an option for a further year.
