Falsification Scandal: NLC gave an ultimatum of seven days AGF to the Chairperson of the Labor Party, High Officials

The ongoing crisis in the labor party deteriorated on Monday when the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) officially submitted a petition to the Attorney General Federation and the Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, demanded a direct prosecution of the National Party Chairperson, Julius Aberure, and three other high -ranking officials for the alleged community service and conspire.
Officials accused of including the National Secretary of the Party, Umar Farouk, and members of the National Work Committee (NWC), Ojukwu Clement and Edward Okereke.

This latest development follows the old accusations that have dressed Abure’s leadership. Exactly a year ago, three Labor Party candidates, Candidates for Governor Ebonyi Eze Eze, Yohana Mangif from Plateau, and the Edo Representative Council candidate, Murphy Imasuen, called on his prosecution, accused that they had revealed proof of counterfeiting.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Acting Chairperson of the NLC Political Commission, Prof. Theophilus Ndubuaku, together with former LP National Youth Leader Anslem Eragbe and Nigerian corruption guardian, Prince Dandy Rowland, insisted that the party must be cleaned from corruption to maintain public confidence.

“We are unable to let this accusation not resolved,” said Ndubuaku. “The Nigerian police department has long recommended that these people are charged in court. However, regardless of our repeated question, no action has been taken. We give the Attorney General’s Office for seven days to act on this case.”

He warned that the failure to sue Abure and the defendant’s colleagues would damage the anti-corruption push of the Tinubu Bola.

“Delaying this case will further send the wrong message to the world about Nigeria’s commitment to justice,” he added.

Ndubuaku also praised Eze Oko, the candidate for the Governor of the Ebonyi Labor Party and the main complaint in this case, for allegedly opposing financial persuasion to cancel his accusation.

However, the labor party quickly rejected the demands of the NLC, calling them political motivated disorders.

The party issued an official statement, rejecting NLC’s claim as “misleading and evil.”

“Forensic and police reports have released these officials,” the statement said.

“The Attorney General has sent a file back to the police, confirming that there is no case to be answered. It is ridiculous that someone is now issuing an ultimatum for the case that does not exist.”
