FIFA Presidency: CAF supports Infantino

Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr Patrice Motsepe has said FIFA President Gianni Infantino will be supported for re-election by presidents of member associations in Africa.
The election for the top spot in world football will take place next year.

Some members of the European Football Association (UEFA) have opposed Infantino’s return next year.
They promised to campaign against him.
But Motsepe opposed UEFA’s move, insisting that Infantino would be re-elected for another term.
He reiterated the position on Thursday at the CAF Strategy Conference in Sal, Cape Verde.
Speaking in front of 52 of the 54 presidents of CAF member associations present in Sal, Motsepe reiterated that “Africa stands by Infantino and will be by his side at all times in view of the upcoming FIFA presidential elections”.

Motsepe, on behalf of CAF and the African football family, also expressed his support and sent a message to Infantino’s wife and loved ones following some comments made in the media.
