Fighting Super Falcons Hold Portugal

Tonight, the Super Falcons presented a battle performance in Lisbon to keep the hosts from Portugal to a goalless draw in a WAFCON 2024 warm -up.

It was not a vintage team game of the Super Falcons, but they did enough to obtain a result against a very determined local team.

The nine times Africans suffered a great turnover, since they lost possession at a low price, they trusted more in the individual brilliance of Captain Rasheedat Ajibade and goalkeeper Chiamaka Nmanazie and the rapid counters to keep up with Portugal.

Since the first half, Nonazie kept Nigeria in the game with a couple of salvages.

He continued with his heroic after the break, making successful salvages in the 52 and 54 minutes after Portugal pressed for an opening goal.

Interestingly, against the game streak, Nigeria saw a bold effort to leave the crossbar in the 79th minute with the Portugal goalkeeper completely beaten.

The team under the guidance of coach Justine Madugu remains undefeated from her accumulation for the WAFCon after beating Cameroon 2-0 at home in another test game.

Next week on Sunday, the Super Falcons will address Ghana’s black queens in a final Wafcon warming in Morocco before his inaugural match against Tunisia on July 6 in Casablanca.
