Supporters of a Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant, Omoba Adedeon, have expressed confidence in his ability to provide quality representation if elected, citing his empowerment programs and contributions to community development.
Supporters spoke during the party’s primary elections in the Kosofe constituency.
One of the supporters, Olanrewaju Adepeso, said Adedeon continued to have a positive impact on the lives of the entire constituency even before he ran for public office.
Adepeso said the aspirant has demonstrated capacity through various poverty alleviation initiatives targeting youths and widows.
According to him, Adedeon has been active in the seven wards of the LCDA, especially in Ward A, through empowerment programs and support for vulnerable residents.
“He has helped the youth and widows of our community and that is why we support him.
“We believe that if he comes to the Assembly, he will do more for the electorate in general,” he said.
Another supporter, Adeyemi Bankole, described Adedeon as a grassroots politician who consistently supported residents with his personal resources.
Bankole said the aspirant has earned the trust of the people through his humanitarian activities and commitment to community development.
“There are many empowerment programs that he carried out from his own pocket even before joining the government.
“So we believe that if he is elected to the House of Assembly, he will do much more for the people,” he said.
He added that Ekosisheri Ward A had never produced a representative in the State House of Assembly, stressing that the emergence of Adedeon would give the ward a sense of inclusion and representation.
According to him, residents believe the district deserves the opportunity to produce a legislator after years without representation at the state level.
Bankole appealed to party members and residents to support the poll aspirant, expressing optimism over his victory.
Some other supporters at the rally also described Adedeon as “a man of the people,” saying he had remained accessible and attentive to the needs of residents.
They urged voters to support his ambition, stressing that his leadership qualities and concern for the welfare of the people set him apart from other aspirants.
However, chaos broke out at the election headquarters when one of the aspirants, Hon. Saeed Wasiu Obafemi, arrived to appreciate his supporters.
The development reportedly angered supporters of the would-be rivals, who allegedly started pelting stones at the venue.
The situation caused panic as security officers fired shots into the air to disperse the crowd, forcing many party members and supporters to flee for safety.
Some aggrieved supporters of the would-be rivals called for Obafemi’s disqualification and lodged complaints with Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) officials at the scene.
