Gwarzo omission due to INEC IT error, claims NDC – THIS INFORMATION

The Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged its members to remain calm following the omission of its governorship candidate, Comrade Aminu Gwarzo, from the final list of candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The party’s Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Fasaha, made the appeal in a statement made available to journalists in Kano.

Fasaha said the party consulted INEC, who he said attributed the omission to a computer error and assured that it would be corrected.

“I want to assure you that as PRO of the party, the problem is not ours. We consulted INEC and they told us that the problem was with the computer and they will fix it,” he said.

He urged party members and supporters to remain calm, expressing optimism that a revised list containing the candidate’s name will be published by Monday.

Fasaha said Abdussalam-Gwarzo had fulfilled all requirements for elections within the stipulated period, adding that the party would continue consultations on the issue.

Likewise, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, Secretary of the NDC House of Representatives Candidates Caucus in Kano Municipal Constituency, described the omission as a mistake on the part of the commission.

Kofarmata said the candidate completed his registration within the stipulated deadline and his name was uploaded on the INEC portal.

He added that the party has received confirmation that efforts are underway to correct the omission.

INEC’s list included Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with his deputy, Murtala Sule-Garo, as vice president.

Other political parties whose gubernatorial candidates were on the list included the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labor Party (LP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
