INVESTIGATION: Shell, Chevron, ExxonMobil and other IOCs spread climate change disinformation over pollution in Nigeria’s Niger Delta

Since 1958, multinational oil companies have operated in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria with devastating environmental consequences for local communities.

To advance their corporate interests, and divert attention from those interests, these multinational oil companies spread climate change disinformation around the world.

Starting Monday, September 23, Ripples Nigeria presents a three-part investigative story on disinformation and climate change claims spread by the IOC.

The year-long investigation looked into oil companies’ activities that contradict their climate change claims.
