Kaduna: Group is looking for EFCC, Nass intervention on the diversion of electoral projects

A non -governmental organization, Eagle Brain Youth Transformative and Development Initiative (Ebytdi), invited the commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC), the National Assembly and the Government of the State of Kaduna to investigate the alleged diversion of a federal electoral college project intended for a public school in Dokan Mai Jam’a, a local area of Chikun of the State.

The executive director of the organization, Daniel Ejembo, issued a declaration issued to Kaduna, describing the alleged undue appropriation of public funds as serious injustice for the children of the community.

He said |: “This diversion of public resources to a private individual is a serious injustice for the children of Dokan Mai Jam’a. We ask for a rapid intervention by the state government of Kaduna, the FCC and the National Assembly to recover mistreated funds and ensure that education has priority.”

Ejembo said that the organization’s investigations revealed that a federal project, according to reported sponsored by the former member of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Umar Barde, was diverted to the Fatima Academy, a private school presumably managed by an Abdulhadi Abubakar.

He said that the project was originally intended for the construction of a public school, but was instead executed at the Fatima Academy, which, according to him, is not registered with the Commission for Business Affairs (CAC).

The declaration also stated that the contractor, Amrah Farms Nigeria Limited (RC-1523474), whose directors include Abdulyekin Bello Tahir and Bello Halimat Sadiq, carried out the construction in violation of the initial purpose of the project.

Ejembo expressed concern for the state of public schools in Dokan Mai Jam’a, observing that they suffer from dilapidated infrastructures, lack of hygiene -health structures and bad learning conditions.
He invited the anti -corruption agencies to immediately probe the issue and urged the government to urgently provide infrastructure, including classrooms, perimeter fences, toilets, desks and water systems for affected schools.
