An aspirant contesting for Kaiama I constituency in Kwara State House Assembly, Ahmad Muhammad, has donated $1 million to the families of five forest rangers killed by bandits in Nukku, Kaiama Local Government Area of the state.
Muhammad, a leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC popularly known as Dan Masani Gwanabe and founder of Mai Nasara Foundation, had formally declared his intention to contest for the Kwara State House assembly seat to represent Kaiama Constituency 1 in the 2027 general elections.
He appealed to well-meaning state officials to support the government in the fight against insecurity.
Addressing his supporters in a well-attended statement held in Kaiama, Muhammad said the call for more responsive and people-centred representation informed his decision to join the race.
“Your message has been clear: you are seeking representation that translates the needs of the Kaiama Local Government Area into tangible progress. After extensive consultation and reflection, I formally accept your nomination to contest for the State House of Assembly,” he said.
Muhammad noted that despite the constituency’s agricultural potential and young population, development would require deliberate leadership and structured governance.
“Potential alone doesn’t fix roads, improve health care or create jobs. It requires a bridge between policy and people,” he said.
He outlined his agenda to include economic empowerment for farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs, improved access to education and inclusive governance for youth and women.
Earlier, a grassroots youth coalition, the Kaiama 1 Constituency Youth Movement, spoke out
its coordinator, Comrade Abubakar Abdulgafar, had endorsed Muhammad for the 2027 elections, describing him as a unifying figure with a strong record of community engagement.
