Tension is now rising in Ojo area of ​​Ibadan, following a clash between some Yoruba and Hausa residents, which occurred early on Wednesday, June 8, 2026.

It was learned that the clash occurred following the alleged killing of a Yoruba tricycle mechanic, who was said to have been stabbed to death during a late-night altercation involving alleged Hausa scrap pickers.

Sources said some youths took to the streets in the area to protest against the alleged killing of the tricycle mechanic, during which alleged scrap collectors were allegedly attacked.

‎Following the clash and the resistance of the scrapyards, some residents of the area apparently abandoned their homes for fear of possible retaliation.

At the time of submitting this report, security officers have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order and prevent further breaches of public order in the area and surrounding communities.

The police authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
