President Bola Tinubu on Monday signed the minimum wage bill.
The President signed the bill at the State House, Abuja, in the presence of the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and the House of Representatives Speaker, Tajudden Abbas.
The National Assembly passed the N70,000 minimum wage bill last Tuesday.
The new law increases the country’s minimum wage from N30,000 to N70,000.
This law also provides for a review of the minimum wage every three years.
This development has ended protracted negotiations on a new minimum wage between the Federal Government and trade unions.

The federal government during negotiations proposed N62,000 as the new minimum wage while the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) pushed for N250,000 as an acceptable wage for workers in the country.
Following the signing, Special Adviser to the President on Senate Affairs, Basheer Lado, in a statement, said the move was a promise kept.
He said: “The signing of the minimum wage bill into law by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a promise kept and a demonstration of his people-centric model of governance.
“Tinubu promised to pay Nigerian workers a living wage during his election campaign and he has kept his promise.”
