The coach of English Premier League side Crystal Palace has called up five Nigerians for today’s UEFA Conference League second leg match against Fiorentina, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Oliver Glasner, who removed Nigerian international Uche Chrisantus from the official list of registered players after the January transfer window, hopes his team will book a place in the semi-final.
They have a 3-0 lead in the first game in England, leaving their Italian rival with the arduous task of scoring four or more goals to advance.
The Nigerian players listed are 18-year-old Sean Somade, another 18-year-old Ben Casey, 20-year-old Asher Agbinone, who is the oldest, with the quartet of Daniel Owoade (17), Chuks Okoli (18), Remi Ahazie-Shittu (17) and Eyimofe Jemide (19) completing the list.
At least two of the players mentioned above are expected to play some role later today. They are all part of the London team’s academy and were born in England to parents of Nigerian descent.
