The Council of Legal Education has increased the admission fee of Crescent University, Abeokuta’s law programme, from 70 to 120, following a successful accreditation exercise which commended the institution’s academic facilities and standards.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, briefed the university community on the development after receiving an official confirmation from the council.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the statement was released by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Idris Katib, who revealed that the quota was made known through a letter dated April 24, 2026 and signed by the Council Secretary and Director of Administration, Aderonke Osho, stressing that the new quota comes into effect from the 2026/2027 academic session.
According to the statement, the update means that Bola Ajibola College of Law will now admit up to 120 students per year into the Nigerian Law School stream.
The decision followed an accreditation visit conducted on February 23, 2026, led by the Director-General of the Faculty of Nigerian Law, Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote, to assess the institution’s compliance with standards in terms of staffing, admission capacity, library resources and infrastructure.
The results of the exercise showed that the council rated the college positively, describing its facilities and human resources as “commendable and impressive”.
The accreditation team particularly praised the quality of the teachers’ offices, the law library, the electronic library, the staff and student common rooms, the auditorium, the law clinic, as well as the available operational vehicles.
Crescent University has seen notable academic successes in recent years, with many of its law graduates achieving top honors and replicating the feat at the Nigerian Law School.
Among them are Qudus Akintola, Zainab Akinde and Haishat Oladunni Majolagbe.
Students of the college have also excelled in national and international competitions, including the 31st Vis Moot Court Arbitration Competition held at the Paris International Chamber of Commerce in 2024.
The institution also did an excellent job at the 2025 International Bar Association/International Criminal Court Moot Court competition, organized by the Grotius Center for International Legal Studies at Leiden University, The Hague.
Another milestone was final year student, Mujeebat Idris, winning the 7th Alao Adavise National Essay Competition on Privacy and Data Protection in 2025.
His winning contribution, entitled “The invisible audience: can online platforms safeguard the privacy of young people?”, exceeded 300 nominations nationwide.
The latest fee increase is expected to further strengthen Crescent University’s ability to train legal professionals and strengthen its position in Nigeria’s legal education landscape.
