Makarfi’s Ramadhan message: Despite current challenges, Nigeria’s place, as a leader, not only in Africa but beyond, is assured

*GOODWILL MESSAGE ON EID-EL FITR 1447 AH (2026)

We express our sincerest gratitude, appreciation and total submission to Allah (SubhanaHu wa Ta’ala) for allowing us to take part in the month-long Ramadhan fast and witness its successful completion. I convey sincere greetings and congratulations to the Nigerian Muslim community and all Nigerians as we celebrate this momentous occasion, which also heralds the celebration of Eid Elfitr 1447.
I fervently pray that Allah in His infinite mercy accepts our worship, prayers and sacrifices as we strive (and continue to strive) for spiritual purification and to draw closer to Him.

It is also my sincere hope that the essence of Ramadhan fasting is not lost on us. The lessons, apart from spiritual rejuvenation, sacrifice and self-deprivation, lead us to empathize with each other, thus becoming each other’s guardians.

As we bid farewell to Ramadhan and begin the celebrations of eid el fitr, we must not lose sight of its meaning, which partly expresses gratitude to Allah and shares with the less privileged so that all of us can take part in the celebrations and festivities.

I also sincerely pray that all acts of worship rendered collectively and individually have been accepted by Allah (SWT), especially prayers for prosperity and sustainable peace in Nigeria, which is a basic requirement for sustainable development.

As we grapple with security and other socioeconomic and political challenges, our country desperately needs our prayers for Allah’s guidance and protection. I therefore enjoin all of us to seize the opportunity afforded by this sacred period to once again dedicate ourselves to prayers to Allah Almighty for a speedy resolution of all problems. I believe that despite the current challenges, Nigeria’s place as a leader, not only in Africa but beyond, is assured. My faith that Nigeria will reach its full potential and realize its greatness remains unshaken. All we have to do is, even as we pray, continue to roll up our sleeves with hard work and commitment.
