Super Eagles and Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has expressed her sincere happiness to be part of the Super Eagles squad for last month’s friendlies against Iran and Jordan.
Okoye, who was left out of the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, featured in the 2-1 win over Iran’s Team Melli.
However, a calf injury prevented the 26-year-old from playing in the 2-2 draw against Al-Nashama of Jordan.
The former Sparta Rotterdam stopper is determined to add to his 19 caps for the three-time African champions.
“I was so happy to be called up to the national team. It’s important for me as a player and as a person. I want to come back many more times,” Okoye told the club’s official website.
The Super Eagles will defend their Unity Cup title in May. They will face Zimbabwe in the semi-final at Valley on Tuesday 27 May.
Jamaica and India will clash in the other semi-final of the friendly invitational tournament.
Nigeria will also face Poland and Portugal in international friendlies in June with Okoye called up.
