Mazzarri takes Osimhen to Atalanta

In a promising turn of events, Victor Osimhen could make a return to Napoli’s squad as they gear up for a crucial match against Atalanta in Bergamo.

The striker has been sidelined for six weeks due to a hamstring injury sustained during international duty with Nigeria in October.

Reporting from Castel Volturno, Sky Sport 24 correspondent Francesco Modugno revealed, “There is a concrete possibility of seeing Osimhen at least among Mazzarri’s squad for Bergamo, with playing time to manage.

“Caution is advised due to the nature of such muscle injuries, but there is a strong desire from Osimhen to get back on the field.”

Modugno further elaborated on Osimhen’s recovery, stating, “The player has recovered and is working towards that objective.”

“Even today, personalized work in the gym and group sessions with the ball are underway. All signs are encouraging, and there is a concrete possibility of seeing him in action for Bergamo.”

Meanwhile, Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri faces the decision of selecting a replacement, considering the distinctive playing styles of potential candidates.

Options include a Simeone-style center-forward in line with the profiles coached by Mazzarri or an atypical choice like Giacomo Raspadori.

The report also hinted at the potential inclusion of Piotr Zielinski, who, despite battling the flu, is improving.

Both Zielinski and André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, returning from national team duties, require careful monitoring as Napoli aims for a triumphant performance against Atalanta.
