Nigeria’s youngest Chartered Accountant emerged at the age of 16 when FG praised the historic achievements of Osasere Okundaye

The Federal Government celebrated 16-year-old Osasere Okundaye after he made history by becoming the youngest accountant in Nigeria, and described his achievement as strong evidence of the immense potential of the country’s youth.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, in a statement issued on Monday, lauded the teenager’s extraordinary achievements, saying they reflected years of dedication, discipline and unwavering pursuit of excellence.

“I sincerely congratulate Miss Osasere Okundaye on her extraordinary achievement of becoming the youngest Chartered Accountant in Nigeria at the age of 16.

“This extraordinary milestone is a testament to the power of hard work, discipline, resilience and an unwavering commitment to excellence,” the minister said.

Olawande noted that Okundaye’s success has positioned him as a role model for the younger generation of Nigerians, and stressed that his story shows that age is no barrier to success when determination is combined with opportunity.

“Osasere has distinguished himself as a shining example of the limitless potential that Nigeria’s youth possess. His achievements remind us that with determination, dedication and the right support, Nigeria’s youth can break barriers, set new records and inspire a generation to dream bigger and strive for excellence,” he added.

“I also congratulate my parents, family, teachers, mentors and everyone who has supported and guided her journey. Their drive, sacrifice and belief in her abilities have undoubtedly contributed to this extraordinary success,” he said.

Reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development to nurturing young talents across the country, Olawande said the ministry will continue to implement programs and policies that enable young people to realize their full potential.

“Osasere’s achievements strengthen our belief that Nigeria’s future is bright in the hands of focused, determined and talented young citizens,” he said.

He further wished the teenager continued success in his future endeavors, and expressed optimism that his achievements would encourage millions of young Nigerians to pursue excellence in their chosen careers.

Okundaye earned the award after successfully qualifying as an accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, making him the youngest individual to ever obtain the prestigious professional qualification in the country.

His achievement surpassed the previous national record set in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who became Nigeria’s youngest accountant at the age of 17 after completing the rigorous ICAN professional examinations.

The accounting qualification is widely considered to be one of the most demanding professional certifications in Nigeria, with candidates typically spending several years undergoing intensive study and passing various professional examinations before gaining the designation.
