Onyema FC reach the final of the Imo FA League as the championship decider gets a new date

Onyema Football Club have secured their place in the final of the 2026 Imo State Football Association League after defeating Harke FC 8-7 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in normal time.

The hard-fought victory keeps Onyema FC in contention for the league title and a place in the Nationwide League Division Two playoffs, with the champions set to represent Imo State in the national competition.

Onyema FC will face the winner of the second semi-final between Elite FC and Akabo United FC. Elite FC secured their place in the semi-finals after a convincing 2-0 win over Evermore FC, while Akabo United FC advanced directly to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, the Imo State Football Association has announced a change in the date of the championship final. The championship match, initially scheduled for Thursday 9 July 2026, has been postponed and will now be played on Thursday 16 July 2026.

The final will be held at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Practice Pitch, Owerri, with kick-off set for 2pm.
The winner of the final will emerge as the 2026 Imo State Football Association League champion and earn the right to represent Imo State at the Nationwide League Division Two playoffs.
