Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have arrested two suspected terrorists identified as Haruna Adamu (32) and Ibrahim Adamu (20).
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects fled from Zamfara State to Yobe State.
In a related operation, troops of 254 Battalion Sector 2 Headquarters arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informer, Ali Muhammad (30), at Ngamdu Market.
The suspect, who was on the unit’s watch list, was found in possession of cash, a cell phone with a keypad, a wallet containing identity cards, charms, a knife and a notebook containing telephone numbers of suspected terrorist contacts.
These were disclosed on Tuesday by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Operation HADIN KAI North East Joint Task Force, Headquarters.
“Troops from Joint Task Force (Northeast), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), continued to record significant operational successes throughout the theater, including the arrest of suspected terrorists and their associates, the rescue of kidnapped civilians, and the recovery of explosive devices during coordinated operations.
“In a notable development, OPHK troops deployed in Ngamdu, while conducting some operational engagements in Ngamdu City, arrested two terrorist suspects identified as Haruna Adamu (32) and Ibrahim Adamu (20). Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects fled from Zamfara State to Yobe State. The items recovered from them include a smartphone, a keypad phone, a power bank, an identity card, suspected illicit substances, pendants and other personal items.
“The suspects have since been handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation. In a related operation, troops from the 254 Battalion of Headquarters Sector 2 arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informer, Ali Muhammad (30), at Ngamdu Market.
“The suspect, who was on the unit’s watch list, was found in possession of cash, a cell phone with a keypad, a wallet containing identity cards, pendants, a knife and a notebook containing telephone numbers of suspected terrorist contacts.
“He has been handed over to the Sector 2 headquarters for detailed interrogation. The arrest is considered a serious disruption to the intelligence network of terrorist elements operating in the area.
“Similarly, OPHK troops, during a night operation around Mubi general area of Adamawa State, arrested five suspected drug dealers found in possession of various items, including ammunition. The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.
“In another operation, OPHK troops deployed in Madagali, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), quickly responded to a distress call for an abduction that occurred in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
“The joint team successfully rescued two abducted victims, Barnabas Apagu (12 years) and Ruth Apagu (10 years), while efforts are underway to ensure the safe release of other abductees still in captivity. Furthermore, OPHK troops, deployed in the Kukareta area of Yobe State, recovered a hand grenade suspected to have been abandoned by fleeing terrorists. The explosive device was secured in line with procedures established.
“The Military High Command commends the troops for their gallantry and sacrifices, urging them to sustain the operational tempo. Likewise, it reassures the public of its continued commitment to supporting offensive operations aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities, protecting lives and property, restoring lasting peace and economic stability throughout the Northeast region.
“Members of the public are encouraged to continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.” Uba explained.
