Nigeria’s head Coach Jose Peseiro has confirmed that Victor Osimhen is content at Napoli, despite reports linking the forward with a departure from the club.
Osimhen’s future with the Italian Serie A Champions remains uncertain, with less than two years left on his current contract.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis maintains that the club reached a gentleman’s agreement with the Nigerian international in August and would be willing to sell the forward to an interested club if he refuses to sign a new deal.
Despite the ongoing discussions between both parties, Peseiro affirms that the player is enjoying his time in Naples but concedes that the player will eventually depart.
“In the new football, you can’t say that Osimhen will stay at Napoli forever. Today he is happy, winning in Naples is more fascinating than with Milan, with Inter or with City, because everyone had lower expectations Furthermore, everyone can connect him to Maradona: before he was the Italian champion in Naples, today it is Osimhen.
“In today’s business everything can change: if an important offer arrives for him and for the club, logically he can change team.
“Furthermore, he can think about changing the league. For Italy, it would be better to have it. Once upon a time, Italy could afford the best players in the world, but today not. There is more money in the Premier League and the other European countries.”
Peseiro continues : “He is not happy, because obviously he had an injury which is not good news for us, for Napoli and for the Italian championship. They have not been simple weeks, the rumors about the signed contract, the transfer market issues and the issue of the TikTok video, especially for an important player like him. Now, however, I know that he has a great desire to return to the pitch as soon as possible.” He concluded.
