PFIPC Scandal: Investigate how alleged fake agency got national budget allocation -Kwankwasiya movement

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has called for a comprehensive investigation into the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), saying the issue has gone beyond the actions of any single individual and now raises fundamental questions about public accountability.

In a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesman, Habibu Sale Mohammed, the movement described the ongoing controversy as “a serious test of the credibility, transparency and accountability of the federal government.”

The group noted that although the Presidency has denied the existence of the PFIPC and distanced itself from individuals claiming to represent the body, reports that over ₦1 billion was allocated in the 2026 budget for entities with the same or similar names require a full public explanation.

According to the statement, “This controversy cannot simply be written off as a mistake made by one individual. Nigerians deserve to know” how a council that the Presidency claims never existed got into the national budget, who proposed and approved the allocation, which government offices processed the documentation, whether any public funds were disbursed, and how allegedly falsified official documents were used “for a long period of time without being detected.”

This movement emphasizes that the issues raised go beyond political issues, and emphasizes that these issues are related to the proper management of public resources.

“This is not a partisan question. This is a question of public accountability,” the statement said.

It further stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which came into office with promises of new hope, institutional reforms and responsible governance, must demonstrate its commitment to these promises by providing a full explanation of the matter.

The group warned that “Silence, contradiction, or attempts to shift responsibility will only deepen public distrust.”

The report also warned that the controversy could damage Nigeria’s credibility among foreign investors, noting that trust in the country’s investment climate depends not only on sound economic policies but also on the integrity and transparency of its public institutions.

Therefore, the movement urges the Presidency to “publish comprehensive facts, including the origins of the budget provision, the administrative processes involved, and the measures taken to prevent similar incidents.”

They also asked the National Assembly, anti-corruption agencies and other monitoring bodies to conduct independent investigations into the matter in accordance with the law.

Reaffirming its commitment to promoting transparency and accountability, the Kwankwasiyya Movement stated that it will continue to advocate for openness in public governance.

“Every naira taken belongs to the Nigerian people, and every public institution must be accountable to them,” the statement said, adding that, “The Nigerian people deserve the truth, and they deserve it without delay.”
