Police arrested two cult suspects in Akwa Ibom

Police operations in Akwa Ibom have arrested two cult suspects in the state of Akwa Ibom.

Spokesman for the State Police Command, Timfon John, said in a statement on Saturday in Uyo that the suspects were arrested during a hotel raid in Ikot-Audota, an emergent region of the state in the state.

John said the operators recovered firearms, ammunition, and other goods during Thursday attacks.

The spokesman said: “Operators act based on credible intelligence which indicates that some of the students who are issued and dropped out of school from certain institutions (a secret name) have formed criminal gangs.

“During the raid, the officers restored the following items: One British Beretta Pistol with three rounds of 9mm live ammunition.

“Other restored items include one laptop, two Android phones, MTN internet routers, cocktails from alleged drug ingredients and three copies of the allegedly stolen.

“Initial investigations indicate that gang members are led by two people, who are currently free.

“This successful operation is proof of command commitment to ensure the safety and safety of the community.”
