Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, has described the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as baseless and politically motivated attacks on the current administration.
Dare stated this on Saturday in his response entitled: “What a Sound!” directed at Hon. Nnenna Ukeje and the ADC National Legislators Forum.
He said opposition parties had started attacking President Bola Tinubu and questioning the electoral process even before the election season officially started.
According to him, this strategy aims to blackmail the government, discredit institutions and attract foreign sympathy.
Dare described the actions of the ADC legislators as theatrical and lacking substance, restraint and loyalty to the constitution.
He said what Nigerians were witnessing was not a defense of democratic principles, but an attempt to weaponize rhetoric and divert attention from internal divisions within the party.
The presidential aide noted that the opposition itself recognizes Tinubu’s democratic record, including his role in strengthening opposition politics and fighting authoritarian rule.

He said that praising the President’s democratic credentials and then accusing him of undermining democracy without evidence was contradictory.
“You can’t spend the first half of a press conference affirming someone’s lifelong commitment to democracy, and the second half accusing without evidence that he has abandoned it,” he said.
Dare added that Tinubu did not mention ADC directly or indirectly in the statement that sparked the reaction.
He said the party’s assumption was that comments referring to this matter were tantamount to blaming themselves.
Regarding allegations of judicial interference, Dare said Nigeria’s judiciary remains constitutionally independent.
He warned that efforts to discredit the judiciary on the basis of political differences could weaken democratic institutions.
The aide also rejected claims involving the Chief of Staff, saying comments taken out of context cannot be used as evidence of executive interference.
According to him, the ADC’s main problems are internal fragmentation, leadership disputes, and lack of ideological cohesion.
He described the coalition as a collection of political opportunists united more by ambition than by shared principles.
Dare said Nigerians deserved political discourse based on facts, discipline and credibility, rather than conspiracy theories and noise.
He reiterated Tinubu’s commitment to the rule of law, democratic governance and institutional independence.
