Port Harcourt Refinery to undergo one -month maintenance

Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC LTD) has announced a temporary shutdown of the Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) port for one -month -scheduled maintenance operation aimed at ensuring safe and efficient operations in the facility.

NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olumi Soneye, revealed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

He said the maintenance training would begin on Saturday.

He described the process as part of an important sustainability assessment for the long -term functionality of the refinery.

Soneye said: “We are working with all relevant stakeholders, including Midstream Nigeria and downstream oil regulatory authority, to carry out transparent and efficient maintenance,” Soneye said.

While the announcement triggered concerns among local fuel retailers in Eleme, the host community of the refinery, who accused officials who were not mentioned named the operation, NNPC rejected the claim.

Soneye stressed that the refinery remains operational and emphasizes that maintenance is planned and important for safety.

He assured the public that there was an adequate diesel inventory (then), kerosene, and other petroleum products to avoid disturbance.

“Further updates will be distributed through our official channel,” he added, reaffirizing the company’s commitment to energy security and operational transparency.
