The independent corrupt practices and the other relative crimes (ICPC) obtained the condemnation of a Mr. Olaniran Sairegun for organizing false and not approved courses in his college in the state of Nasarawa.

Sairegun was the founder/rector of the International College of Administration Science and Technology, Auta Balefi, Nasarawa State.

He was accused for the first time next to the institution in 2024 with a charge of three counts to the limit of obtaining a false claim, contrary to section 1 of the fraud of early commissions and other related crimes.

The public ministries of the ICPC, led by Mr. Adhesin Raheem, during the trial, had detailed the way in which the two defendants had deceived the unsuspecting candidates by offering admissions to the study courses that were not credited by the regulatory body.

The investigations revealed that the institution has obtained the approval of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to perform four courses.

However, it was discovered that the institution offered admissions to some candidates between 2019 and 2021 to study courses such as nursing, public and computer health.

One of the counts against the College and the Rector read: “That you, International Professional College of Administration Science and Technology Nigeria Ltd and Sairegun Olanirane (M) between 2019 and 2021 in Auta Balefi, State of Nasarawa within the jurisdiction within the jurisdiction of this honorable court of false sockets and with intent to disturb the sum of a hundred within the jurisdiction) Daniel Ogah As School Fees and Cost of Admmission Letter For Being Admitted To Study Three Years Professional Program in Public Health/Nursing Science and (BSC) Degree Conversion with Recognized International University (After graduation) and/or professional certified (Cia, Cicn, Idpmn, Nimn, Cicman, ICAN, NIM, RSA etc) in International Professional College of Administration Science and Technology Nigeria Ltd, where International Professional College of Administration Science and Technology Nigeria Ltd, State of Nasarawa does not have the three -year approval program in Public Infirmary Sciences /infirmaries /infirmaries. Degree in Nigeria and thus committed a crime against the subsection of section 1 (1) (a) and punishable pursuant to the subsection of section 1 (3) of the FEE FRAUD ACT 2006. “

While issuing a sentence on the case, the honorable justice Anyalewa Ononoja-Alapa of the Federal High Court, Lafia, Nasarawa State, found that the two accused of all the counts have approached them against them.

The judge also sentenced the second accused (Mr. Sairegun) to seven years of imprisonment without the option of a fine.

The judge also directed that all taxes collected by unsuspecting students who have been offered illegal courses to college were reimbursed and that the institution should limit themselves to only four courses approved by the relevant authority. (The Guardian)
