The Democratic People’s Party (PDP) in the state of Edo has demanded the transfer of the Population Election Commissioner (REC), Dr. Anugbum Onuaha, ahead of the election of the National Council next month in the state.
Chairperson of the PDP Guard Committee in the State, Dr. Anthony Aziegbemi, made a call at a press conference on Tuesday in Benin City.
Aziegbemi said that Rec allegedly acted in a compromised way during the last governor election, which caused loss of trust in his neutrality.
The Independent National Election Commission (Inec) has improved August 16, for the election in the middle of the Edo central Senatorial District and the Ovia Federal Constituency.
The two seats were emptied by the Monday Governor Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa.
Aziegbemi emphasized that the presence of Rec was a threat to the credibility and justice of the selection of interruptions.

He accused Rec of playing a stupid role in the previous poll and damaged the integrity of the entire election process in the state.
The Chairperson of PDP urged the Chairman of IINC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu to move Rec back and restore public confidence in the process.
He also called for the abolition of certain election officers (EOS) on duty during the 2024 governor election in Edo.
“We also demand that EOS in Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha, Egor, Etsako West, Etsako East, and Akoko Edo must avoid the selection of bye.
“Their involvement in deviations that damage the last governor election makes their participation unacceptable,” he said.
