The court dismissed cybercrime cases against 24 foreigners

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday dismissed cybercrime cases against 24 other foreigners charged by the police.

Police in 2024 have charged 109 foreigners with cybercrime.

85 of the defendants were later convicted, fined and ordered to be deported.

The defendants were arrested for their involvement in protests against bad governance in August 2024.

Police on October 23, 2025 told the court that the whereabouts of the remaining 24 foreign nationals were unknown.

Police lawyer, Victor Okoye, told ciurt at the resumed hearing that the 24 foreigners had not been arrested by security agencies.

“My Lord, the defendants are still at large and we have not arrested them,” he said.

In his ruling, Judge Ekerete Akpan threw out the charges for lack of thorough prosecution.
