The emergence of Yayi signals a new phase for the development of Ogun – Adeniji

The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has been urged to consolidate the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun and unlock the economic potential of Ogun State if elected governor in 2027.

Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, recently emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, putting to rest weeks of speculation on who would bag the party ticket among several aspirants.

Speaking with journalists in Abeokuta on Wednesday, an APC leader and coordinator of the Ogun West Initiative, Olootu Bolaji Adeniji, described the emergence of Adeola as a “historic opportunity” to promote balanced leadership and inclusive governance in the state.

Adeniji said the current administration has laid a solid foundation in critical sectors, including infrastructure, education and industrial development, adding that Adeola possesses the capacity to sustain and expand gains.

He said: “Governor Abiodun has done very well in placing Ogun State on the path to sustainable growth. What is needed now is a leader who can consolidate these legacies and take the State to the next phase of socio-economic development. Senator Adeola has the vision, expertise and political will to fully harness Ogun’s vast potential.”

The APC boss also argued that Adeola’s candidacy presents an opportunity for Ogun West, which he described as historically marginalized in the state’s political leadership, to produce the next governor.

He noted that the legislator’s legislative experience and background in financial management positions him to promote people-oriented policies and accelerate development across the State.

“Our consensus candidate’s financial expertise, his vast legislative experience and his track record in delivering people-centered social projects and services place him in an advantageous position to harness the industrial and economic potential of Ogun,” Adeniji added.

While expressing confidence in Adeola’s ability to deliver democratic dividends, Adeniji urged party members and residents of the state to support his candidature.

He added that an Adeola-led administration would prioritize infrastructure, industrial growth, youth empowerment and rural development, with the aim of strengthening Ogun State’s status as a major economic hub in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
