The Oyo Police has unveiled five suspects during in-depth investigations into alleged weapons caches

The Oyo State Police Command has paraded five persons arrested in connection with the discovery of firearms and other suspicious items at a property allegedly linked to a former Park Management System (PMS) member, Surajudeen Adio, known as Suri Ilupeju.

The suspects were presented on Wednesday at the Police Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, by the Command Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, who represented the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Abimbola.

Among those arrested was Muideen Adio, identified as the son of the main suspect, Suri Ilupeju, who had recently returned from Poland. Police said the elder Adio is still at large and is currently being sought by investigators.

The arrests followed the demolition of a building on June 16, 2026 by the Oyo State Government. Authorities alleged that the building was used to store weapons and ammunition and was the target of a state crackdown on properties linked to criminal activity.

In a separate operation, the government also demolished a three-bedroom bungalow located in Lako Community along Aiyegun-Anaye Road in Ibadan. Officials claim the building served as a hideout for the kidnap gang involved in Mrs. Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and his twin sons, Peter and Paul.

The destruction followed an intelligence-led rescue mission carried out by the Nigerian Police, which resulted in the arrest of two main suspects and the neutralization of two other suspects. The operation was carried out by the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

Providing further details about the ongoing investigation, Ayanlade said, “Adio, who is said to be a former PMS member, was investigated after allegedly threatening to shoot a person, who then reported the matter to law enforcement authorities.

“Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and uncover all suspected criminal activity related to the property.”

He reiterated the resolve of his command to fight crime and ensure public safety across Oyo State.

However, the suspects distanced themselves from the allegations against Suri Ilupeju, and insisted that “we only visited the suspect to seek financial assistance, not to participate in any criminal activities.”
