Three men were amputated for theft in Iran

Three men amputable their hands in northwest Iran for theft.

The state media reported that the people were arrested in 2024.

An official in the city of Urmia told reporters on Friday that the people refused to cooperate with the court to return a few kilos of gold and jewelry.

The forced amputation of the hand for repeated violators is enshrined in the Islamic Criminal Code and is intended to induce regret for the perpetrators and prevent further violations.

Usually, amputation is carried out by a forensic doctor.

Internationally, and also in Iran itself, cruel punishment such as amputation or stoning is very condemned and classified as inhumane.
