Troops of the 17th Brigade in Katsina have killed four suspected terrorists in an encounter along the Turare–Yantumaki Road in the state.
State Commissioner for International and Internal Security, Dr. Nasir Mua’zu disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Katsina.
He said the operation took place on Friday when troops came under fire before quickly repelling the attack.
According to him, the success was a strategic setback for the network of the feared kingpin, Muhammadu Fulani, whose operations had terrorized parts of Matazu, Musawa, Charanchi and Kankia.
Items recovered by Mu’azu from the scene included an AK-47 rifle with ammunition, two motorbikes, several mobile phones and cash amounting to ₦153,400.

“Some of the confiscated mobile phones contained images of the suspects wearing military gear, which have now been submitted for forensic analysis.
“Preliminary intelligence identified the neutralized suspects as Bishir Holami, Jamilu Baki, Ibrahim Doro, and Abdurraman Maje.
“The figures relate to a series of deadly attacks in Gobirawa, Raddawa, Kuki and surrounding communities in Dutsinma and Matazu local government areas,” he said.
The Commissioner described the development as a major operational success, underscoring the intensifying crackdown on armed groups in the region, and added that attacks on bandits will continue until peace is fully restored across the state.
He urged citizens to remain vigilant and maintain cooperation with security agencies, as public intelligence continues to play an important role in ongoing operations.
