Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz coach Rudolph Speid speaks cautiously but optimistically ahead of his team’s clash with Nigeria’s Super Eagles in this year’s Unity Cup final at Charlton Athletic FC’s stadium, The Valley.

With both teams set to meet this Saturday in a repeat of last year’s final, which Nigeria won on penalties after a 2-2 end of regulation time, Speid admitted the Super Eagles are a good team, but quickly added that they are beatable.
He added that his team, which defeated India 2-0 on Wednesday to reach this stage of the four-nation competition, will not raise its arms in surrender before taking the field against the Nigerians as it believes any team can win at any time.
The coach, who was not in charge when Jamaica lost last year’s final to Nigeria, concluded with a declaration that his players will give their best in Saturday’s match and will not give up until the final whistle.
Speid, who felt that the result could swing in favor of either team, weighed all the possibilities for Saturday’s game and replied: “They are very, very good, but all teams are beatable. We have to be aware of what they bring to the table.
“We have some things to contribute. Jamaica is still in a rebuilding stage, there are a lot of young players but, as with the game these days, no one is a winner before the game is played. That’s where we are now.”
Sports247 further reports that the Reggae Boyz will be hoping to rewrite history on Saturday, having lost the last two Unity Cup finals to the Eagles, but came close to winning last year, coming back from 2-0 down before falling 5-4 on penalties.
