#EndBadGovernance organizers plan another protest, ‘Fearless in October’

Organisers of the recently concluded #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests, which ran across the country from August 1 to 10, 2024, have announced plans to hold another protest in October.

Take It Back Movement Mobilization Director Damilare Adenola confirmed the planned protest, and stated that the protesters’ demands would remain the same unless new issues arise that require additional demands.

“Yes. It’s called ‘Fearless Protest in October’. Our charter of demands remains the same. If anything, we will add more because the country is getting worse,” Adenola said.

Recall that youths across the country have been staging #EndBadGovernance protests across the country, including in the Federal Capital Territory, despite efforts by government officials urging youths to avoid such protests.

The protesters have submitted a list of demands, including dissolving the Senate of the National Assembly, making lawmaking a part-time job for the House of Representatives, increasing the minimum wage to N250,000, reversing fuel prices and electricity tariffs to pre-January 2023 levels, and releasing and compensating all EndSARS and political prisoners.

Adenola also asserted that they would not comply with the court order from the state government requiring them to hold demonstrations at designated points, saying, “We will not accept such compliance.”
