IPoB claims to have discovered secret detention centres where Biafran activists are being held without access to communication

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) has made shocking revelations, alleging that Nigerian security forces have been detaining and locking up Biafran activists in secret detention centres across the country.

The group claims that these facilities are notorious for human rights abuses, torture, organ harvesting, and enforced disappearances.

In a statement released on Thursday by IPoB Media and Publicity Secretary Emma Powerful, the group listed several secret detention centres where Biafran activists were held.

These include the Wawa Military Base, Kanji Dam detention centre, Niger State barracks and prisons, the DSS headquarters in Abuja, and several others.

“We want to alert the public to these secret detention facilities because of the horrific human rights violations, mistreatment of innocent people, torture, organ harvesting, and enforced disappearances that occur in these centers,” Powerful said.

According to IPoB, the Ndigbo are the highest-ranking ethnic group detained, many accused of being members of IPoB or the Eastern Security Network (ESN), or framed as kidnappers by Nigerian security agencies.

“The Ndigbo have been profiled because of their ethnicity by the Nigerian government and hunted down and detained in all illegal detention centers in Nigeria,” Powerful said.

“Not only are innocent Igbo people being held in these illegal detention facilities, but innocent people from other ethnic groups are also being locked up in these gulags.”

The group urged people whose relatives have disappeared to search for them in these secret detention centers, warning that many had been tortured to death or slaughtered for their organs.

“To this day, some IPOB members who were abducted by the Nigerian Army and Police during President Donald Trump’s 2016 inauguration rally in Port Harcourt (Igweocha) Rivers State are still missing,” Powerful said. “IPOB is still searching for the men and women abducted during the peaceful rally, more than 8 years later.”
