Pope Francis’ body has been moved to his residence in the Vatican to lie in the state of the Basilica of San Pietro
The basilica is now open so that the public presented beyond the open coffin.
He played the bells and the people applauded while the procession made its way through the square of San Pietro
The Pope died on Monday morning – his funeral will take place on Saturday, frequented by leaders from all over the world.
The Pope’s coffin is located inside the Basilica of Grand St Peter, in front of the papal altar, which is built on the saint’s tomb.
It will remain there until Saturday’s funeral.

In the meantime, the participants in mourning began to present themselves at the Basilica of San Pietro to pay homage to Pope Francis.
The basilica will remain open until 24:00 local time (23:00 bst) today.
