Three Iranian citizens who were accused of violating spying had appeared in court.

Mostafa Sepahvand, 39, Farhad Javadi Manesh, 44, and Shapoor Qalehali Khani Noori, 55, appeared at Old Bailey on Friday, charged with violations under the National Security Law.

They are suspected of having Journalists who are targeted to work for Iran InternationalIndependent media organization based in London.

They were all accused of carrying out behaviors that were likely to help the Iranian foreign intelligence department between August 14, 2024 and February 16, 2025.

They arrived in the UK between 2016 and 2022 in an irregular way, including with small boats and trucks, and appeared in court via video links.

They spoke through the Farsi translator to confirm their identity.

Sepahvand, from St. John’s Wood, was also accused of being involved in the supervision, reconnaissance and research of open-source, with the intention of carrying out serious violence against someone in the UK.

Manesh, from Brent, and Noori, from Ealing, was also charged with supervision and surveillance, with the intention that serious violence would be carried out by others against someone in the UK.

The request session for the three men will take place on September 26, and the temporary trial date has been determined for October 5, 2026, according to Mrs. Justice Cheema-Grubb.

The people were arrested on the same day with five other Iranian citizens, who were detained as part of a completely separate investigation.

Four of the people are still being arrested and arrested because they are suspected of preparing for terrorist actions.
