An initial report to the destroyed Indian Air flight that fell a few moments after taking off has been handed over to the Indian authority – but at present there is no obligation to make it public.

The report has been submitted by the aircraft accident investigation bureau (AIB) and is based on the initial findings of the investigation, marking 30 days from the accident.

Aviation experts emphasized that initial reports were impossible to occur in the cause of the accident but would show the steps followed by investigators, important findings, the order of events and available evidence.

Captain Amit Singh, founder of the Safety Matters Foundation, an NGO dedicated to flight safety, told Sky News accident on flight was “rarely isolated events”.

“They are the result of the ignored warning chain, normalized deviations, and systemic satisfaction,” he said.

The Indian aviation sector is one of the fastest developing in the world, recording more than 10% of growth a year since 2011, not including the years of Covid. This is the third largest air transportation market behind the United States and China.

Data from the Indian Civil Aviation Ministry shows that there are around 6,900 domestic and international flights that carry more than one million passengers every day.

In 2023 the industry produced US $ 53.6 billion (£ 39.6 billion), contributed 1.5% of the country’s GDP and employed nearly eight million people.
