State governments, dignitaries and media leaders have confirmed participation in the third Jakande commemorative lesson organized by the Nigerian Guild of the editors (NGE) in honor of the former governor of the State of Lagos.
The lesson of the Lateef Jakande Memorial holds on Wednesday 23 July 2025 at the Center for International Events of Edmark d’Epodium, 31 AROMIRE ROAD of ADENIYI Jones Road, Ikeja, Lagos, starting at 10 am.
A declaration of the NGE, signed by Eze Anaba and Onuoha Ukeh, respectively president and secretary general, said that the governor of the state of Bauchi, Senator Bala Mohammed, will deliver this year lesson with theme: “Journalism and challenge of a government of a nation of a construction of the nation at Ibom State, a human shepherd Eno.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mallam Mohammed Idris, is a guest of honor, with other special guests such as the founder of United Nigeria Airlines, prof. Obiora Okonkwo and the president, Air Peace Airlines, Dr. Allen Onyema.
Media leaders, as the head of sticker, former special councilor of the former president for the media and advertising; CEO of Punch Newspapers, Joseph Adeyeye; News director, Television Continental (TVC), star Din-Jacobs; And Mrs. Funke EgbeMode, a former commissioner for information, state of Osun, will act as discussions in the main document.
The declaration states that the owners, the managing directors, the editors in chief and the editors of the Nigerian newspapers will be present during the lesson.
The series of commemorative conferences of Lateef Jakande aims to celebrate Alhaji Jakande’s remarkable contribution to journalism, public service and governance. Its legacy acts as a model for future generations and we are proud to continue this tradition.
The series of conferences began in 2023 with a document delivered by Capo Felix Adenike, member of NGE, and continued in 2024 with Prince Nduka Obaigbena, president of today/Arise TV, offering on the theme “Media landscape in rapid evolution: survival strategies”.
The guild said that the lesson will be “another in -depth discussion on the challenges and opportunities in the construction of the nation through journalism”.
