The Ijaw Youth Network (Iyn) condemned what described as “sponsored plots” aimed at discrediting the presidential amnesty program (Pap) and its administrator, dr. Dennis Otuaro, swearing that these attempts will fail.
In a strongly formulated declaration signed by the president of the group, Frank Ebikabo, and the secretary, Federal Ebieridor, Iyn has rejected the recent accusations of bad management against an Otuaro by a group called “Niger Delta, the young people interested for change”, describing the statements as fundamental and harmful.
Iyn accused the dark group of being a tool in a wider defamation campaign aimed at undermining the successes recorded by Pap’s current leadership.
They stated that those who are previously exploited the gaps in the personal profit program behind the campaign, who have now been blocked under the Otuaro clock.
“Every two weeks, a new ghost group presents itself with similar accusations, a scheme designed to harass and discredit a man whose only offense is his diligence, transparency and love for the Niger delta”, reads the declaration.
The group praised Otuaro for what they called a “remarkable transformation” of the father, noting that its reforms had expanded opportunities for scholarships and professional training for former agents and young people in the region.
“The presidential amnesty program under Dr. Dennis Otuaro focused on the empowerment of young people, the education and acquisition of skills – all oriented to the development of human ability and the support of peace in the Niger delta.
His efforts align with the renewed agenda of the hope of President Bola Tinubu, “said Iyn.
The group also questioned the credibility of the accusers, describing the “delta of the Niger interested in young people for change” as a fictitious and led by dark individuals, including a certain “Leone Ogorry”.
They also said that the attacks are indirectly aimed at embarrassing president Tinubu, who appointed Otuaro to renew the amnesty initiative.
By calling the commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC) and other institutions to resist political revenge, Iyn has urged the Niger Delans to gather behind Otuar and protect the integrity of the amnesty program.
“Let’s say unequivocally: he leaves Dr. Dennis Otuaro. He is doing excellent work.
“The people of the Delta del Niger-Comphesi ex agents, traditional leaders and interested parties-sheds solidly behind it,” concluded the declaration.
The group also warned against ethnic prejudice in public speech, noting that officials of other regions are not subject to a blackmail so supported and have asked for the end of what they described as a dangerous and divisive tendency.
