The unit of environmental and special crimes (application) of Lagos, known as Task Force, arrested two people for having impersonated his officials and illegally extorting motorists.
In a separate operation, the agency also seized 69 commercial motorcycles in a renewed application of application.
The two suspicions, Paul Anthony, 42 and Mukailla, 31 years old, were arrested at the Oshodi bus stop along the Bolade-Iyana Ipaja highway.
They were captured by bourgeois officers as they presumably terrified motorists, falsely accusing them of traffic crimes. Both suspicions were postponed to a correction structure pending further legal proceedings.
Reacting to the arrest, the president of the Task Force, CSP Adetayo Achele, has promised to pursue all the imitators who are obscuring the name of the agency.
He said the Task Force is determined to “restore mental health and public trust” by freeing the highways of false officials. He also appealed to the public to report any suspect activity to help the fight against this crime.
In a related development, the Task Force has also carried out a control operation to eliminate commercial motorcycles, known as “Okadas”, from highways and limited routes.
The operation, focused on areas including Mile 2 Bridge, Agboju and Apple Junction A Festac, involved the seizure of 69 motorcycles.
All seized motorcycles are intended to be renounced the state in line with the law on the reform of the 2018 Lagos state transport sector.
